Grey bodied salt glaze stoneware milk pan/bowl. This pan form, with a flat base and sloping sides, was the “universal form of bowl until after about 1860” (Greer 1981:97). The exterior and interior of this vessel was coated with an iron oxide wash or brown clay slip.  This vessel has been repurposed as a flower pot by having a hole punched through its base.
