Description: Wooden top with traces of an iron tip. Wooden tops were often made of boxwood or lignum vitae. Antique example on right from a private collection shows what the iron tip may have looked like. The 1895 Montgomery Ward catalog offered five models of tops of differing hardwoods and sizes.
