Dimensions: 40 mm length

Description: German flat tin or lead toy with traces of paint.  This figure appears to be a carousel horse and rider.

History: The earliest ”flat” toys were soldiers  made in Germany of pressed tin from the 1730s onward.  One of the most prolific firms was that of Ernst Heinrichsen, who began business in 1839 (O’Neill 1988:244).
