Sprig molding was often used in conjunction with clouded or tortoiseshell glazes (Barker and Halfpenny 1990:36).  Perhaps
the fragment is similar to the c. 1775 teapot, shown in center, by William Greatbatch, pictured in Barker and Halfpenny 1990:39.
