Gray-bodied salt glazed stoneware jug with applied round medallion molded with crowned GR cipher of King George I (1714-1727) or King George II (1727- 1760). Just to the right of the angel’s wings are the initials SW (see detail). The initials together on the right hand side in this manner generally indicate a 2 quart jug. Skerry and Hood (2009:50) date these SW marked jugs to the period between 1715 and 1740. Vessel 2317 |
