Curb bit
Description:
Likely 16th century. Arm wide at top, flat inside and contoured outside, very large loop at rein attachment. Rigid bar (145mm) hanging from hook at rein attachment along with the rein ring. Curb chain still present with twisted S links at center and three untwisted "O" links at the end. Bit is large and robust, with a blunt ended protrusion below the mouthpiece instead of a pointed one. Mouthpiece has a large bead (29mm diameter), a horseshoe shaped curve over the tongue, a tickler chain, and possible beaded chain for the mouth as well. Need x-ray.
