Bathhouse (18AN37)

Site History

The Bathhouse site (18AN37) is a multicomponent precontact artifact scatter identified as a short-term resource procurement site, located on Marley Creek near Baltimore/Washington International Airport in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Archaeological Investigations

Wayne Clarke and Willard Morgan excavated two five-foot square units at this site in 1969 as part of a salvage operation in advance of road construction. This work yielded approximately 200 precontact Woodland period pottery sherds, as well as one triangular and one Archaic period projectile point. Additional work on the site was done by the Archeological Society of Maryland, but no records exist of this work. Subsequent construction has destroyed most of the remainder of the site.
