Archaeological Investigations

This site was initially identified in 1905 by Talbot D. Jones, an insurance underwriter who was also an active avocational archeologist. Jones graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1899 and his collection and field notes were donated to Johns Hopkins. In 1980, the Division of Archeology of the Maryland Geological Survey analyzed the artifacts in the Jones Collection, which is now curated at the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory. The T.D. Jones Collection includes 33 artifacts from this site.
