Heise 5 (18BA220)

Site History

The Heise 5 site (18BA220) is a Late Woodland short-term camp. The site is located in Baltimore County, Maryland near the Liberty Reservoir.

Archaeological Investigations

Non-systematic surface surveys of the site were conducted by avocational archaeologist David Heise in 1982, 1984, 1992, and 1997. There is no report on these findings, but Heise reported the site to the Maryland Geological Survey in 1981 and a site form was completed. Artifacts from the site were donated to the Maryland Historical Trust by Heise in 2012 and they are curated at the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Lab. Lithics included the following diagnostics: 1 distal end chert point,1 proximal half rhyolite straight stemmed point, 1 rhyolite Madison point and 2 quartz Potomac points.
