Lana Brown (18CV76)

Site History

The Lana Brown site (18CV76) is a shell midden located on the Patuxent River at Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum in Calvert County, Maryland.

Archaeological Investigations

This site was originally recorded in 1981 by archaeologists Michael Smolek and Wayne Clark during a survey of the Patterson property. Smolek and Clark conducted a random surface survey along cultivated field edges and in wooded areas. Diagnostic artifacts noted but not recovered from the site included Mockley net-impressed and Rappahannock plain pottery. Other artifacts noted included oyster shell, flaked stone, and fire cracked rock.
