Brooks' Inn (18PR386)
Site History
The Brookes Inn (18PR386) site is the site of an 18th- and 19th-century tavern and hotel located in Upper Marlboro in Prince Georges County, Maryland. The frame structure was razed in 1975 to make way for a county parking lot.
Archaeological Investigations
In 1987 and 1988, John Milner Associates, Inc. conducted construction monitoring and Phase II testing of Brookes Inn. In addition to the non-systematic collection of artifacts recovered from construction activity, archaeologists excavated one 2 × 2-meter unit, 12 1 × 1-meter units, and one 2-meter × 8.5-meter unit in natural levels. No report was filed with the Maryland Historical Trust.
