Crooks (18QU628)
Site History
The Crooks site (18QU628) is a possible Paleoindian, and Middle or Late Archaic base camp located northeast of Carville in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland.
Archaeological Investigations
In her survey of Maryland fluted points, Lois Brown had circled the field area where Ralph Graham had found a fluted Clovis point. Most of the artifacts found at the site consisted of fire-cracked rock and debitage. Two stemmed points, 2 bifaces, and an end scraper were also found at the site, indicating that Middle or Late Archaic components may also be found at the site.
