Smith A Site (7NC-G-26)

Site History

The Smith A Site (7NC-G-026) represents an Archaic period artifact scatter. The site is located in New Castle County, Delaware, adjacent to the Appoquininink River.

Archaeological Investigations

The site was discovered during a pedestrian surface survey in 1984. Artifacts collected included a fragmented rhyolite projectile point, primary and secondary flaked stone, fire cracked rock, one ground stone celt and a fragment of a ground stone ax. At the time of the pedestrian survey, there was less than 2% ground visibility.
