Trumpet Vine
Trumpet
Vine (Campsis radicans / Bignoniaceae).The
genus Campsis is composed of
2 species of woody vines (lianas) nativeto eastern Asia. It flowers
in July and August and grows in thickets and fence rows. It is
very plentiful in old tobacco fields in southern Maryland. This
is not a commercial lumber species and thus, no technical information
is available on the properties of the wood.
Characteristics found in the Trumpet Vine (Campsis
radicans):
- Ring porous
- Tangential/Ulmiform latewood
- Spirals in vessels
- I/V pits medium (8-12)
- Rays 1-4 seriate & heterocellular
